At Healing Bridges Counseling, we strive to be in network with many insurances to facilitate providing quality care as allowed by the insurance carrier. As a result, network status in the office can vary from provider to provider. With that in mind, we encourage you to contact our office and your insurance company to verify your benefits; it remains your responsibility to understand your insurance plan.

While HBC attempts to keep an updated list of accepted insurance, this information does not serve as a guarantee of coverage and payment. Once your claim is processed, you will be informed of the amount attributed to “patient responsibility.” This can include deductible, coinsurance and/or copayments. While we make every reasonable effort to pre-determine the amount you will owe, it is not uncommon for the final amount to vary somewhat from the estimate. As a result, you may find that you owe more or less than you were originally quoted by the practice if you requested this information.

Telehealth Services

To ensure accessibility to clients, we offer Telehealth services.  Most insurances have approved Telehealth services.  Telehealth services are billed at the same rate as in-office visits; however, insurance companies do not always include telehealth as a covered service, especially as we move away from intensive pandemic protocols. If this is the case, your telehealth services may be considered an out-of-network service and payment for the session will be expected at the time of service.

Secondary Insurances

Please inform us if you have more than one insurance plan, so that we can be sure to bill accurately for your services. It is crucial that you speak with all insurance payers involved in your coverage to establish what is called “coordination of benefits.” This allows us to submit claims to the primary insurance to ensure both carriers receive claims correctly.  We currently do not directly bill secondary. Failure to keep this information up to date can cause claims to process and pay incorrectly, and may result in you having to cover unpaid amounts. HBC is unable to back bill for old appointments or establish coordination of benefits on your behalf.  Speaking with only one insurance payer will not establish coordination of benefits.   If you do not know which payer is your primary insurance or secondary, please let staff know and provide payer information for each payer.

 Accepted Forms of Payment and Rates

Check and cash are preferred.   HSA and all major credit cards may be accepted.
Rates for services range between $80-$150.  
Many individuals use their benefits from their insurance carrier for services.  
We also work with many individuals who choose, for various reasons, to pay privately.  

Out of Network Coverage

HBC offers Out-of-Network (OON) billing as a courtesy for those who many want to see a provider who is not paneled with their specific insurance. We encourage you to call your insurance company to inquire about the extent of any out-of-network benefits you may have – you might be pleasantly surprised!

How does Out-of-Network (OON) billing work?

Upon registering with the practice and completing your intake paperwork, please let the us know through your patient portal or at the front desk that you would like us to submit OON billing for you. When you arrive for each appointment, you will be asked to pay your provider’s service fee (see Rates). A claim will be sent to your insurance company, just as it would be for in-network services. In some cases, you will receive a check directly from your insurance for the covered amount; in other instances, your insurance will pay HBC. Should that occur, the funds will be placed on your account against future charges or refunded to you, per your preference.

We recognize that navigating insurance benefits can be frustrating and as we are excited to help you access the care you need while minimizing your need to talk to your insurance company. Please note that OON billing is a courtesy service and the amount refunded to you is determined by your insurance carrier. Not all insurance provides for OON benefits. If for any reason we are unable to bill your out-of-network insurance, we will provide you with a detailed statement called a “Superbill" which you can submit directly to your insurance for reimbursement. Superbills will be provided monthly for continuing patients. Your insurance company may not pay the entire amount for the services rendered and instead pay at a rate determined by them.   Please note, not all insurances accept Superbills, and it is important to confirm with your insurance company if they do.  Any price discrepancy between our rate and theirs will not be refunded.

For those out of network or privately paying, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate.  This estimate is required by Federal Law to identify the cost of therapy for a period of time.  Please be aware, this is an estimate to the best of our ability regarding costs for continued services and not a bill.   Therapy can be a process, and individuals may complete treatment sooner or later than anticipated.  For more information please visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises/policies-and-resources/overview-of-rules-fact-sheets to learn more about the No Surprises Act.

Cancellation Policy

Appointments are reserved for you.  We require a 24 hour notice to cancel and/or reschedule an appointment.  Should changes be made with less than 24 hours, or should you fail to show for an appointment, a fee will be charged.     

Various Questions To Ask Your Insurance

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance carrier.   You are responsible to gather information of your insurance benefits and responsibilities.   The following questions may guide you in gaining clarity of coverage for outpatient mental health/behavioral health services in an office setting:

• Do I have mental health insurance benefits?  Ask them to outline in detail the coverage and responsibilities.
• What is my deductible and has it been met?  What will this mean for me as I go forward in seeking counseling services?
• How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
• Is there a copay and if so, what is it?
• Is a referral from my Primary Care Physician necessary before making an appointment with a counselor?
• Do I need to have a prior authorization?  If so, ask what you need to do to obtain a prior authorization or sometimes call pre-certified.
  
• If we are not in network and you would like to work with us,  you may ask if your insurance carrier allows Out of Network services, and ask what's required to proceed this way.  We can provide a Superbill, which is a detailed receipt of service, that you can submit to your insurance carrier to apply towards Out of Network services.
• It's recommended that you confirm that Healing Bridges Counseling, LLC or the specific therapist at our office is within network.  If it is not and we have your insurance carrier listed above, kindly contact us and we'll work to help sort this out.
